Want to seriously get things done? Then get serious when writing your to-do list. Wishy-washy or generalized tasks (i.e. Fix computer, Finish software project, etc.) on your list will stay there longer.

Determine what is truly next. For example, in order to fix the computer, you may first need to call a technician...but before you do that, you need to get the name of the person your friend Chris recommended. So your very next action will be to call Chris and get the contact information for his referral. Prior to responding to the meeting invitation, you need to speak with your staff about the status of the project.
